Thanksgiving with the Webbs

David and I had an excellent Thanksgiving weekend! We celebrated Thursday with just the three of us at home, but that did not stop us from having the full, big meal! I decided to go all out this year and make my first big turkey (we got a 15 pounder) and I was pretty pleased with how it turned out! I put the turkey in a brine overnight which I think made all of the difference in how well it turned out. I then took it out the morning of, dried it off really well and covered it in butter, onion powder and pepper. I also put some butter, onion and garlic inside the Turkey. It was so good!!

Mmmm-mmmm good!

What a handsome man carving that turkey
Last year when we went to visit David's family for Thanksgiving, we announced our pregnancy by giving his mom a little thanksgiving onesie I had bought that had an ultrasound picture taped to it.

Here we are with the cute onesie
It was so fun that this year we got to use that same onesie for Maddie's thanksgiving outfit. It fit her perfectly and she sure was cute in it! It was a little tender seeing her wearing it since it brought back happy memories from last year and reminded us just how grateful we are for our sweet girl!

She's always so happy!

Our happy family, Thanksgiving 2014
Anyway, the reason that I chose to make a big meal for just the three of us was because David's brother and his wife and three kids came out to visit us on Friday and stayed with us all weekend. I wanted lots of leftovers to share so I wouldn't have to do so much cooking ;) We had a great time with them visiting, and Maddie sure loves her cousins!

A lot of friday afternoon was spent in the living room hanging out. Maddie kept rollin over to her cousin McKinley :)

We also went to the park for a little bit on Friday. Maddie's face in this picture cracks me up. What a funny girl. Haha!
Saturday morning was a cold and rainy day, but we all got up and headed out to Virginia City. We had a good time walking around and looking in the shops, and then we went on the "candy cane express" train ride! It was such a cute little event. The ride lasted about 30 minutes and they handed out hot chocolate and cookies, we sang carols and they read the night before Christmas story. At one point the train went through a tunnel that was decorated with candy cane lights which was really fun. Maddie had a great time, even though she had no idea what was going on ;)

Posing in the waiting room before the train ride. We had just gotten out of the rain, so don't mind my flat hair ;)

Seriously, it doesn't get any happier than this!

I can't help but take pictures of this happy girl!
Ready for the train ride!

We were going to go up to Reno after the train ride, but we were all too cold and hungry to do that, so instead we went home. We enjoyed some lunch and then had movie time at home to stay warm!

On Sunday we enjoyed church together, but Maddie is starting to get so antsy that it's a little harder to pay attention. She likes to arch her back when we're holding her on our lap to try to get down and gets fussy faster now. So we've started to let her roll around on the ground during sacrament meeting, which will probably only last until she rolls several rows away from us ;)

Hanging out under the benches is where al of the cool kids can be found
Someone returned David's orange cones that they used at the turkey bowl and David put them to good use ;)
The rest of Sunday was spent hanging out at home, watching movies, taking naps, eating San Diego tacos and playing games! We played Yahtzee and it was so much fun. Overall it has been a fabulous Thanksgiving weekend!

We love and miss all of our family and friends that we didn't get to see over the holiday weekend, but we are so grateful to Ian, Amy and kids for taking the time to drive out and see us!

Much love,

Family Pictures

Something I haven't really mentioned before is that I have been helping my friend Brittany out with her little business by taking pictures of her daughter wearing some of her items. We had fun doing this, but this then led to her asking me to take her family pictures for her. My first response was "you get what you pay for and since I don't charge..." hahaha! I am just a picture taker and not a photographer so this made me really nervous! But I decided to help them out anyway.

We went to take the pictures a few weekends ago, and while we were up there I had her take pictures of our family, too. I think some of them turned out pretty well so I'm happy! Maddie was really cold and hungry during a lot of them, so she's making some funny faces but I still think she's super cute :)

Once again, I am definitely not a photographer, but I have fun playing around with my camera. Some day when I'm not working I'd love to take some photography classes since I've always had a fascination with photography. I'd love to learn more about lighting, how to better use my camera and how to edit, to name a few things.

Anyway, here are a few of the pictures that we got of their family and of our family!

Sorry about my hand placement, Maddie

I'm so sad that the sun came out right when we were taking these pictures! But I still like it :)

I love my cold little girl! Haha!

I'm planning on continuing my practice and self study of photography and then in May I'm bringing my camera out to Tallahassee for more practice! I hope the Gmeiners are ready for some amateur family pictures when I'm out there ;) And I'd LOVE to get some pictures of mom and dad with all of the grandbabies!! Oh, I can't wait for May and I hope all of us are able to be together. That would just make my heart so happy!

5 Months Old!

Little Miss Madison turned 5 months old on Friday! I can't even believe it. Everyone warned me when she was born that time would just fly by, and boy are they right! David and I are absolutely loving this stage and loving being able to watch her learn and develop so much, it is just so much fun.

Right now she is really good at rolling from her tummy on to her back, and every time we set her down for tummy time she will immediately roll over. She loves putting her feet in her mouth, can be entertained by her play mat toys for forever it seems and loves to take her binki out of her mouth and try to put it back in, though she usually gets it in the wrong way ;) She's such a happy girl and is always smiling! I'm fully convinced that she doesn't know how to smile without opening her mouth wide open, but that makes us just love her cute smiles even more! She does chuckle sometimes but she still makes us work pretty hard to get any out of her. She loves to be sitting up but still has no balance for it, and I can tell that she's starting to want to grab things enough that it's giving her motivation to move, so we'll see how long it take for her to start scooting. She is still a big fan of bath time and gets really excited to see the bath tub filling up with water. She's getting more hair on her head but you can barely tell since it's so incredibly blonde! I did notice a cowlick the other day on the right side of the back of her head and I was so proud of her for having enough hair to form a cowlick! Haha!

I took her 5 month old pictures today and wanted to share some of them with you!

She's looking up at David in this picture. I just love how much she loves her daddy!

Smiling at her daddy again :)

Such pretty blue eyes!

Our little baldy is getting so big!!

A few weekends ago David and I drove out to Idaho to spend some time with his family and meet the two newest cousins. It was a crazy trip travel wise and we've decided that we can't make that trip again unless we can stay for AT LEAST 48 hours before we have to drive back. Of course, I'm pretty sure we've said that every time we've made these crazy weekend trips, so there's a good chance we'll be caught doing this again in the future. Haha! For this trip we drove through the night on Friday, getting in to his parent's house at about 4AM. Moving Maddie from the car to the house woke her up and she didn't go back to sleep until 5, which means Dave and I also didn't get to sleep until 5. I'd say we're definitely not the young kids we used to be, but let's be honest, even when we were young kids neither of us were very good at staying up late. We had a great time seeing his family, though, so it was worth it! And Maddie loved being with her cousins!

As every first time mom, I have tons of pictures of Maddie on my cell phone, so I'll just stop "talking" and dump the pictures here for your viewing pleasure. I hope you enjoy!

Always so cute and happy

She finds the bath faucet to be captivating

It's captivating, I tell ya!

Our little fish, so happy in the bath. And she obviously needed a modesty bikini for the picture ;)

She wasn't so sure about cousin Samantha

After driving all night you're bound to have moments like this

I think Maddie really pulls off the 'fro quite nicely ;)

All of the cousins! Can you find our cute owl?

Having some grandpa time :)

I don't know how to rotate this picture...

She's always playing with her binki, trying to figure out how to get it back into her mouth

No so sure about this solid food situation!

All cozy for the cold weather!

Love those big open mouth smiles!!

These two make my heart melt

Maddie is really absorbing her books these days

This is the only place she wants to be when her tummy hurts

I love this happy girl!
Alright, I guess that's enough pictures of Maddie for now, though believe me, I have tons more I could share. Haha!

Baby Toes

Well, I guess it has been a long time (again) since I last used this blog! Since my last post my belly became huge, I had Maddie, I went on maternity leave, went back to work and now Maddie is 4 months old. And boy, what a great 4 months this has been!

Big belly!
Madison Elva Webb was born on June 6th at 7:26 AM after 16 hours of labor. She weighed 8lbs 11oz, measured 20.5 inches long and had a head size in the 98th percentile. Yes, I said NINETY-EIGHTH percentile! She didn't cry right away so they were worried about her breathing, but it turns out she was just fine. I think she was probably just taking it all in!

Minutes after she was born
Our little Madison is so sweet. She is a good sleeper and started sleeping through the night at 5 weeks old. She took to nursing like a champ. She is definitely a daddy's girl and lights up with a huge smile whenever she sees David, and David is definitely wrapped around her little finger.

The cute daddy-daughter duo
I've been loving this 4 month old stage. Maddie is so much fun! She loves to talk to herself and we will often hear her in her crib in the mornings, just talking away. When we go in to see her she always greets us with big smiles and is in a completely different position than we left her the night before! She is becoming a drool queen which makes me think that she's probably starting to teeth. She loves to reach for and play with her toys and is learning to put everything in her mouth. She's working on rolling and can go from back to front pretty well, but gets stuck when she's on her tummy. She is definitely a water baby and has loved bath time from the very start! But I think my favorite thing right now is that she's discovering her feet! I love when babies find their feet for the first time, I just think it's so cute, and it's even cuter now that it's my own daughter.

The toes have been found!

Getting better at tummy time!
David and I are loving being Madison's parents and we feel so blessed that she is ours! And of course, Maddie and I are both really lucky girls to have David in our life. He is such a great husband and dad.

I'm going to try my best to update this blog more frequently, but I think I say that every time I update this blog! But now I have a cute baby to take pictures of and write about, so maybe this time I'll actually follow through. I guess only time will tell! :)
