1 Year Anniversary in Mexico!

David and I just returned from Puerto Vallarta, where we spent 6 blissful days celebrating our first year of marriage! We had such a great time, and to the relief of all of your wallets, we both successfully avoided being kidnapped or thrown into Mexican jail! I'd say that's quite the success ;)

I think this blog post will mostly be a picture story of our trip, with only some words, since pictures are the best part!

Our room had a hot tub on the balcony, so after sleeping through most of the first afternoon (neither of us got much sleep the night before) and ordering room service, we watched the sunset over the ocean from our hot tub. It was amazing! We also spent some time exploring the resort.

On our actual Anniversary, Sunday, we took some time to "explore" the surrounding town (i.e. getting lost since they don't have street signs) and eventually found church. To our complete joy, we discovered that they had a very large Book of Mormon set up outside of the chapel. So naturally we had to pose by it.

It was so hot!
Kind of confused by the size of this book!!
I think David was actually impressed!

Yay for the Book of Mormon!
Walking home...and getting sweatier!
We also had to spend some time by the pool...in a very Sunday-appropriate fashion?? Haha!

Love the hat-guy who tried to sell us hats all week
posing with the fruity mocktail...that I only wished I could drink!

So much happiness!
We also spent some time walking around the down-town area, which was a really fun area

I guess we can't work in Mexico!!
David found lots of meds for sale...thankfully none were needed ;)
Beautiful boardwalk of downtown
Every night we tried a different restaurant at the resort. It was fun to go to restaurants that we didn't have to pay for (well...at the time of eating, I mean), but it did lead to some awkwardness at the end when we weren't sure if we should just walk out when we were finished eating, since we felt like we were dine-and-dashing. The resort has a French, Italian, Mexican and Japanese restaurants, as well as some buffets and pool-side grills.
Waiting for our first fancy dinner. Apparently everyone dressed up...we only had one set of fancy clothes!!

David at the French Restaurant. Mmmm it was delicious
The next day, Monday, we started off going ziplining! We got to the office where the group was to meet a little early, so we took some time to walk along the stretch of beach nearby.

Yay for more beach!!!

Awesome view...oh and the background is nice too

Beautiful fishing area

My turn by the railing..it's so hard to take pics when there's just two of us!

So triumphant..or something

Our ziplining trip was so much fun! It ended at an area with a little restaurant and an "animal house"

Ready to go Ziplining!
Looking awesome on the trail..hahaha
There I go!!!
Bye Davey!!
Getting ready for the next zipline

Going upside down!!

Do you see me hanging upside down out there?

Each zip line (there were 14) had a different name
HAHA Seriously the best picture of the trip

I met a new monkey friend
Please read the first line of the animal's description...hahaha

On Tuesday morning we went snorkeling. We went to the Marietta Islands, which required a 30 minute boat ride to get to. On the way we saw Whales, Dolphins and a Manta Ray with a 15-foot wing span! It was so great. There's a "secret" beach at the Marietta Islands that is only able to be accessed by swimming under a rock arch. It was absolutely beautiful. We took photos with our disposable water camera, but those are still being developed. Our tour was with 3 other people, so luckily we had a small group. One of the ladies seemed to think she was a local, since she had lived there for a year several years back. Her version of spanish, though, was speaking english in a mexican accent while throwing in the occasional spanish word. We found it to be quite entertaining ;)

On our way out

David looking as good as ever

Ready to go! We felt like little kids with our floaties on...

Despite several layers of sunscreen, we both ended up really burned. We are both shedding our outer layers now :( Because of this, we tried our best to avoid the sun, and instead stayed in the shade while enjoying the beach/pool area. We also enjoyed taking naps every single day. Ah, what a great vacation. Here are some other pictures of our trip!

The sunsets were gorgeous

Magical

Still madly in love :)
We had such a great trip, and an amazing first year of marriage. I've heard that the first year is the hardest, so if that's true, the rest of eternity for us will be a breeze :)
